styled cottage. The home was built by Laura Jepsen, a former literature professor at the college after she spotted a Live Oak standing in the center of beautiful pasture. Upon seeing it, she fell in love and purchased the land, and built the small home.

The house was built with the same stone that was used in the steps of the Old State Capitol Building and the paneling is cypress that was taken from the swamps near Tallahassee. In addition to the cottage, you can also relax and read a book in the Shakespeare Garden or meditate in the labyrinth.

Lichgate on High Road is located at 1401 High Road. The driveway to the home is slightly hidden, so look for a white post with “Lichgate” engraved on it. The post is on the east side of High Road close to Tharpe Street.

Remember those who fell on 9/11 at the 9/11 Whale Sculptures. These beautiful and majestic sculptures were created by Bill Brinson and a group of his friends and adorn his front yard. Brinson was so affected by the tragic events that took place on 9/11 that he gathered friends to work together to design the whales and create a place of peace. Brinson chose whales as the theme because they are known to be symbols of recorders of time. The memorial includes four large whale sculptures, dolphins, a few pools of water, and a large American flag.

The 9/11 Whale Sculptures are located on Brinson’s personal property at 2546 Centerville Rd., but they can be viewed from the parking lot across the street.
